Maltesers: A Brief Overview

Originally known by the rather charming name of Energy Balls, Maltesers were first created in 1936 when one Forest Mars Sr, (of Mars Incorporated fame) had the simple, yet inspired idea of manufacturing a chocolate ball that contained the taste of malted milk. Revolutionary in that there was no other product on the market quite like it at the time, the product, whilst pretty much an instant hit, was also the start of a legacy that is still going strong over 75 years later. Today Maltesers is sold around the world in as far flung places as Denmark, Canada, Hong Kong and Japan and is especially popular in the UK where it is the third biggest chocolate brand in the UK with sales of over 140m per year.
